Star fruit also known as carambola is a juicy tropical fruit native to Bharat (India) and Southeast Asia. We call this Karamadala. This fruit is widely popular with attractive star shape and is enjoyed in raw and cooked preparations. It has a slightly sweet-sour flavor and so are its dishes.

Sasime is one such sweet-sour curry made with star fruit. Sasime tastes better with ripe star fruits. But unripe star fruits can also be used to make sasime. I have used raw fruits in this recipe. If you prefer, you can cook them before grinding the mix. Sasime is mixed with plain rice to eat.
